The 2023 Crusader Wall of Recognition induction took place during the Class Night program on Wednesday, May 17, at Wellington High School. This year’s inductees are Betty Sue Anderson (WHS Class of 1959) and Erik Stalcup (2006). Dr. Todd Diacon (1976) was also recognized for his selection as the 2020 inductee. The honorees visited the high school Wednesday during the day and met the two senior students who serve on the Wall of Recognition committee, watched the seniors' last parade down the hallways, recorded interviews for a podcast, attended a luncheon prepared by Mrs. Karla Lawless' FACS students, took a tour of the high school, and attended an afternoon assembly. Betty Sue Anderson was unable to attend in-person, but she was able to interact with the underclassmen at the afternoon assembly through a Zoom call, and WHS '59 classmates Jack Potucek and Linda Hibbs Robertson accepted a plaque on her behalf during the Class Night presentation.
The Crusader Wall of Recognition exists to honor a culture and tradition of excellence and high achievement by recognizing outstanding Wellington High School Alumni and contributors. The Wall is meant to inspire current and future Crusaders to lead their lives in a way that will perpetuate the standards of excellence and high achievement the honorees have set forth. A nominee may be eligible in one of two categories.
- As a graduate of Wellington Senior High School.
- As a contributor of service to Wellington Sr. High School
Nominees must have achieved a high level of success as a professional in arts, science, industry, military, or athletics, or as a volunteer in service of their country or state, or community. Nominees will not be judged solely on their achievements while a student at WHS but also by their achievements after graduation and must have graduated or retired from WHS at least 10 years prior to their nomination.
Congratulations to this year’s Crusader Wall of Recognition inductees!
