USD 353 will be offering active shooter response options training to all students and staff early in the fall semester provided by Officer Wiley. The student training sessions will likely be in the first week of school with response drills to occur at a later date. We will be implementing a trauma-informed and age-appropriate approach with this training to avoid unnecessary stressors that may adversely affect your child’s educational environment. However, we want to provide parents and guardians with the opportunity to opt their children out of the training and/or drills if they so choose. We will provide those students who have been opted out a safe location for them to await the completion of each training event.
