Class Night 2021 - Awards, Recognitions, and More

The WHS Class of 2021 marched into the main gymnasium Wednesday evening and took their seats (that were spread out to accommodate social distancing requirements). The event got underway, with many parents, family members and friends on hand to witness. It was time to hand out awards - that which follows is a synopsis.

Mrs. Rane Case and Mrs. Linda Chase presented the Business Dept. Awards, the CTE Awards, and the FFA Recognitions.

USD 353 SRO Troy Wylie presented S.A.D.D. cords to Morgan Bacon, Kade Adams, Lexi Clift, Brookelyn Buckner, Erin Roths, Taylor Heasty, and Kadin Brown.
 
Debbie Murphy presented the Leon Segabartts Scholarship to Tanner Meyer.
 
Tanner Ford presented the Wellington Young Professionals 2021 Scholarship to Olivia Brand.
 
Karla Defore presented cords to NHS Seniors Morgan Bacon, Olivia Brand (scholarship also), Lexi Clift (scholarship also), Payton Ginter, Taylor Heasty, Katy Kreifels (scholarship also), Rachel Lee, Tanner Meyer, Julia Starnes, Gabby Stout, and Trace Witham.
 
Bob Brown presented cords to the following Crusaders of the Stage - Blake Prickett, Rachel Lee, and Katie Kenemore.
 
WHS Band Director Allen Hisken presented the John Philip Sousa awards to Julia Starnes and Aidan Young.
 
Amelia Bristow presented the WHS Student Council Scholarship to Calli Hatfield.
 
The Sibyl K. Wells Scholarship was awarded to Rachel Lee.
 
The Social Sisterhood of Wellington scholarship was awarded to Olivia Brand.
 
The Loren L. Hibbs Baseball Scholarship was awarded to Trace Witham.
 
The PEO Sisterhood Scholarship was awarded to Payton Ginter.
 
The KWCH 12 Top of the Class honored Taylor Heasty and she'll be featured this summer in a commercial.
 
The KSHSAA Citizenship Awards went to Lexi Clift and Colin Green.
 
The Kansas University Honor Scholars Program honored Morgan Bacon, Journei Bales, Olivia Brand, Lexi Clift, Olivia Farley, Colin Green, Taylor Heasty, Zach Saffell, Abby Smith, Julia Starnes, Jessica Walker, and Trace Witham.
 
The KSDE recognized Julia Starnes and Rachel Lee, as Kansas ACT Scholars with composite scores of 32 or higher on the ACT Assessment.
 
The Governor's Scholars Award Program recognized Julia Starnes and Rachel Lee.
