A Driver Education course will be offered this summer for students who have completed their eighth-grade year of school and who will be 14 years of age by June 1, 2021, but not yet 21 years of age by September 1, 2021.
Enrollment will be limited to the first 96 students who complete the enrollment procedure. An enrollment packet will be sent home on 3/31/21 with all Wellington Middle School 8th graders and all interested students from Wellington High School.
Two sessions will be offered one from June 1-June 18 and the second from June 21-July 9. The cost of the course is $150 (one hundred fifty dollars) for students who attend a USD #353 school and $200 (two hundred dollars) for students who do not attend a USD #353 school. This fee is non-refundable once students have begun their behind-the-wheel training. No fees will be waived for this course.
Completed enrollment forms and fees may be turned in at Wellington Middle School Office from April 1-30 2021, between the hours of 8:00 AM and 3:30 PM. No applications will be taken after April 30 because of the time needed to get licenses (DE 99) from the state.
An optional virtual Parent/Student Google Meeting will be held on March 31, 2021, at 6:00 pm. This optional parent/student meeting is to answer questions on the Summer Driver Education program. A text alert will be sent out with the meeting link on March 31st. Questions can be directed to Mike Wilmoth Phone 620-326-4310 or email [email protected] (Mike’s planning period 10:30 am - 11:15)
