Like any SPIRIT WEEK, there are DAILY THEMES at WHS to dress by and prizes are given Friday for the best each day! Here’s what’s slated for DUKE SPIRIT WEEK 2020:

FEB. 10th (MON)
Mascot Monday: Wear your favorite team gear
FEB. 11th (TUE)
Tik-Tok Tuesday: Dress as your favorite tik tok or meme
FEB. 12th (WED)
Wacky Wednesday: Wear mismatched clothes/wacky clothes
FEB. 13th (THU)
Throwback Thursday: Dress in your favorite decade
FEB. 14th (FRI)
Friday: We Love Wellington! RED OUT / GO BIG RED!

Winter HOMECOMING is also DOOR DECORATING TIME – this year’s SPIRIT WEEK overall theme is “2020 Vision” and this school year is also the 100th birthday for WHS, which first opened it’s doors the Fall of 1920! So decorate accordingly!

After the holidays, the food bank is depleted so WINTER HOMECOMING is also a time for the CRU-CON classes to collect canned goods throughout the coming week for the Wellington Food Bank. Items they often indicate they are in need of are: Sugar, Flour, Mustard, Ketchup and Peanut Butter! The Cru-Con class that collects the most will win a PIZZA PARTY!!

Friday of course is the BIG DAY…the DUKE LUNCH, the DUKE PEP ASSEMBLY (where by the way the WHS Scholars Bowl Team will be recognized for their first place finish last week at REGIONALS! (They are hosting STATE 4A this Saturday also!) The DUKE CORONATION will occur during halftime of the Boys Varsity Game Friday evening vs Rose Hill and following that game, the traditional DUKE DANCE in the Commons until 11PM. The DUKE TRADITION began over 70 years ago – this week it continues!

This school year’s candidates, in alphabetical order (nominated by the Senior Class Girls) are:

TYLER BROWN
AUSTIN FINK
JOHN HART
JOHN LONG
QUINN MCCUE

Their escorts in respective order are Elise LeGrand, Emberly Gonzales, Jennifer Jensen, Kylie Aufdengarten and Jordyn Young.

The escorts for the crown and basketball bearers (Draivyn Wilcox and Truvy Miller) are Kylie Lloyd and Luke McComb.

GOOD LUCK GENTLEMEN – have a great week!!
