Marisa Black Earns Spot On All-State Honor Band!

On Saturday, Jan. 7th, Marisa Black and Alex Hardin auditioned for the All-State Honor Band that will rehearse and perform as a part of the Kansas Music Educators Association In-Service Workshop to be held Feb. 23rd to 25th in Wichita. Marisa was selected to be a part of this band, earning a 4th chair seating in the flute section out of the 12 others that were selected. Marisa competed against students from all over Kansas. To win a spot, and to place so high, in this Honor Band is a very difficult thing to do, and is a true honor.

Top KSDE Officials Visit USD 353

The Kansas State Department of Education Commissioner, Randy Watson, accompanied by District #10 State BOE member Jim McNiece who also is presently serving as Chairman of the State Board of Education, visited Wellington and the Wellington School District on Friday. At WHS, Mr. Watson and Mr. McNiece ate lunch with students, exchanging ideas, answering questions, etc.

Let There Be "LED" Lights!

The City of Wellington has been assisting the high school with their parking lot lights this summer, replacing the old lights with new LED lights that will burn brighter and be more cost effective. The gracious assistance provided by the City has been greatly appreciated by school officials.  

Chromebook Sessions for WMS 6th Gr Parents

CHROMEBOOK 101 for parents and guardians of incoming WMS 6th graders took place on August 7th. There were "2" informational sessions, one at NOON and the other at 6:30PM @ Wellington Middle School.

*How to "be present" in their digital world

*Tips for monitoring student use of the device
