On Saturday, Jan. 7th, Marisa Black and Alex Hardin auditioned for the All-State Honor Band that will rehearse and perform as a part of the Kansas Music Educators Association In-Service Workshop to be held Feb. 23rd to 25th in Wichita. Marisa was selected to be a part of this band, earning a 4th chair seating in the flute section out of the 12 others that were selected. Marisa competed against students from all over Kansas. To win a spot, and to place so high, in this Honor Band is a very difficult thing to do, and is a true honor.

The annual WHS FFA Spaghetti Dinner and Labor Auction was held Monday evening at WHS - a nice sized turnout with lots of spaghetti, desserts and more! A teacher luncheon was held on Wednesday with the usual rave reviews!

The Kansas State Department of Education Commissioner, Randy Watson, accompanied by District #10 State BOE member Jim McNiece who also is presently serving as Chairman of the State Board of Education, visited Wellington and the Wellington School District on Friday. At WHS, Mr. Watson and Mr. McNiece ate lunch with students, exchanging ideas, answering questions, etc.

CHROMEBOOK 101 for parents and guardians of incoming WMS 6th graders took place on August 7th. There were "2" informational sessions, one at NOON and the other at 6:30PM @ Wellington Middle School.

Each session coveredr:

*A review of Wellington Middle School Chromebook policies and expectations

*How to "be present" in their digital world

*Tips for monitoring student use of the device

The District-Wide Enrollment at WHS has concluded. Patrons may continue to enroll at your child's respective school.
