Immigration Reenactment @ Washington Elementary

Friday was the annual IMMIGRATION REENACTMENT at Washington Elementary. The 5th graders each school year...reenact the arrival of immigrants back in the day at Ellis Island in New York. From traveling on over-crowded boats, to not understanding the language upon arrival, and a myriad of other obstacles and concerns...very hands on way to understand that part of our history. Many even dress to that time era. Staff man different stations, from check-in after arriving in the harbor, medical exams, interviews, citizenship tests and in some cases, detainment.
