Top State Honors for WHS Freshman Jael Catlett!

The Kansas Business Hall of Fame held an Essay Contest recently, receiving 92 entries from 10 Kansas high schools, almost double from last year's entries. A representative from KBHF paid a surprise visit Wednesday to Mrs. Elizabeth Vaughn's class where Freshman Jael Catlett was presented with a certificate for being 1 of the top 3 winners in the State! Jael, along with Jordin MacKenzie, a freshman at Blue Valley North, and Melvin Le, a sophomore from Liberal, took the top spots in the contest!

Noon Lions Club Presents Jr Lions Awards @ WHS!

The NOON LIONS CLUB held their annual JR LIONS AWARD ceremony at WHS on Tuesday - 12 exceptional "JUNIORS", 6 boys and 6 girls were selected for this honor, an honor based on good character, citizenship, and community. Congratulations to the following WHS Class of 2020 awardees!

CTE - America's Future Workforce / Showcase @ WHS April 24th!

Wednesday, April 24th from 6:00PM to 8:00PM, everyone is invited to the Ninth Annual Career and Technical Education Showcase at Wellington High School. It's an after-school event to view the work of students in CTE classes.

We are celebrating the accomplishments of CTE students. We would like for you to celebrate with us! Here is a list of some of the work/activities being showcased:

Big Sendoff / Big Payoff For WHS Band & Choir Thursday!

Many WHS students gave the WHS Band and WHS Choir a big send-off Thursday in the Commons as the two musical groups boarded buses for State Competition. Both performed a number before their departure. 

There was great news to report later Thursday from State Competition. Mr. David Brody, interim band director, indicated that both the band and the choir had received 1 ratings at State - "it's been years since both have received 1's."

Crusaders Pitch Perfect 1's @ Regional Music Festival Saturday!

The Regional Music Festival was held at Goddard this past weekend. Mr. David Brody, interim band director reports very good news from the event!
Several students qualified for the State Solo and Small Ensemble Festival coming up!

Area Residents to be Inducted into Halls of Fame @ SW College! PRESS RELEASE

Winfield, Kan., April 8, 2019 — Several area residents will be inducted into halls of fame at Southwestern College during Founders Day Weekend April 11-14.  Inductees include Cory Helmer (Business Hall of Fame), James Leland (Fine Arts Hall of Fame), and Gary King (Educators Hall of Fame), Winfield; Janet Doud (Educators Hall of Fame), Wichita and works for USD 363 Wellington;

Awesome Baskets @ Kennedy! Stop By For A Chance!

Tickets are $5 per ticket, or 3 tickets for $10 for each of the baskets below.

The opportunity to win the raffles for the 4 baskets has been extended to April 16, 2019.

Tickets may be purchased in the Kennedy front office during school hours.  The winning raffle ticket will be drawn on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 during school hours.  The winner of the ticket does not have to be present to win.

Lincoln Fun Night 2019

Late afternoon Saturday, Lincoln Patriots and their families and friends, enjoyed their annual "FUN NIGHT" at Lincoln Elementary, Attendees were treated to Pancakes (if you could catch them!) :), a variety of games, a cake walk, face-painting and more! Mother Nature dampened the venue at times but not the Patriot Spirit! A "fun" time was had by all! GO PATRIOTS!

Kennedy GLOW RUN a Glowing Success!

Kennedy Elementary staff and students, held their annual fundraising "GLOW RUN" event, Saturday evening which is basically a fun night, correction, a very fun night for all that attend. Students participate in a variety of events, including cake walks (my favorite), glow ring toss, and more. Face paint artists were on hand, resulting in some pretty scary looking Cardinals running about. :)
