KRR Summer Campers Take Field Trip To TANGANYIKA!

Check out the PHOTOS from Week 1 of KRR Summer Camp Journey being held at Kennedy Elementary. There are about 100 students from Kennedy, Lincoln, and Washington who are doing activities in reading, math. science, robotics, community service projects, team building and field trips. The group went to Tanganyika on Friday. Students also eat breakfast, and lunch during the program.

This Friday - June 30th at 12:30pm at KENNEDY ELEMENTARY is the Summer KRR Camp Journey Slideshow Presentation for parents, grandparents, and the Wellington community to see all the things the students did and learned this summer. Teaching Excellence and Longevity Awards Presented!

At the 2016-2017 Employee Appreciation Program at WHS Wednesday morning, numerous USD 353 personnel were recognized for their years of service and "11" employees of the district were bid a fond farewell as they are retiring. The EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING AWARD for this school year was also announced by the USD 353 Foundation. Out of approx. 30 nominations, the honor went to WHS Instructor Karla Defore! Congratulations Mrs. Defore!! Karla has taught in the district since 2006!

History Comes Alive at Lincoln Living Wax Museum

The 5th graders at Lincoln Elementary on Monday, made history come alive, about 2 dozen or so "famous folk" from the past lined the halls, awaiting the simple push of a button and they'd share a little history about themselves...superbly done and it was fun - who gets to talk to Pocahontas, Ponce De Leon, George Washington, Squantos, Anne Hutchison, Nancy Morgan Hart, Paul Revere, James Oglethorpe, William Penn, John Hancock, Thomas Jefferson and others and eat popcorn in their midst!

The Battles Were On At The Washington Spelling Bee!

The 2nd through 5th grades at Washington Elementary this past week held a Spelling Bee with parents and classmates on hand to observe. It was a battle in each class to ascertain an eventual winner but winners were eventually determined. Congratulations go out to 5th grader Fredrick, 4th grader Jagger, 3rd grader Levi and 2nd grader Raelynn for hanging on for their respective wins! 2017 D.A.R.E. Graduation for 5th Graders @ WHS

The 2017 D.A.R.E. Graduation Ceremony for area 5th graders was held Wednesday evening at WHS. SRO and D.A.R.E. facilitator Jim Yunker of the Wellington Police Department MC'd the event which includes recognition of the program, the participants and more. Awards are presented to the students for various achievements associated with the D.A.R.E. program and the event is attended by a large contingent of proud family members and friends. Officer Yunker is assisted by the "D.A.R.E.

Lincoln 2nd Graders Host Community Speakers!

A slate of speakers from the community visited Mrs. Worley's 2nd grade classroom at Lincoln Elementary this past week as part of the American Education Week celebration across the school district. A Little Afternoon Snack For Principal Smith!

A couple dozen Kennedy Cardinals were rewarded in a big way Friday for improving their scores recently during MAPS TESTING! Principal Stephanie Smith, donned in plastic head and body gear, withstood pie after pie after pie to the face as smiles and laughter filled the school just prior to dismissal for the weekend. Kudos to Mrs. Smith for being such a great sport - and kudos to the kids for their improvements with their testing!
